  1.     In projectile motion, the object in 
  2. motion has velocity components in both the 
  3. x and y directions. However, the velocity in 
  4. the x direction is independent of the velocity
  5. in  the y direction. Therefore, the set of 
  6. equations applying to linear motion can be 
  7. applied to the x direction and the y direction 
  8. in turn. Note that linear motion is just a 
  9. special case of projectile motion where one
